As a wife and mother of two young boys, ages 3 and 5 who reside in Carlinville, Illinois, I have always valued the importance of spending time outdoors and being near the water whenever possible. Growing up, I was known as a “water baby” and a fish in the water, thanks to having an outdoor pool at home. My love for water and outdoor activities was nurtured early on, and it shaped the way I live my life today.
During high school, I became a lifeguard, and it was through this job I was introduced to teaching swim lessons to young children. Over the years, I continued teaching private one-on-one lessons for more than 10 summers, balancing it with my college and work commitments. The fulfillment I felt in helping children gain confidence in the water was undeniable, and it became clear to me that there was a real need for swimming instruction in my community.
I’ve always dreamed of owning a business that could provide swim lessons year-round, helping make a lasting difference in the lives of children. However, the “how” of making this dream a reality always eluded me – until I found the Survival Swim Development Network. Through this network, I discovered a community of like-minded instructors with the same mission to teach life-saving skills and provide quality swim education.
Along with my goal to teach children to swim, I am passionate about spreading awareness for child drowning prevention. It is my mission to make sure every family in my community has access to the knowledge and resources needed to keep their children safe in and around water. I am committed to changing the swim lesson landscape in my area, ensuring that families have the tools they need to prevent drowning and provide their children with the opportunity to thrive in the water.
