Julie Thomas

Hello, my name is Julie Thomas and I am the owner of R.K. Swim Academy located in Magnolia, Texas. From a young age I have always been passionate about swimming. I started competitively swimming when I was in 5th grade, and continued until I graduated from high school. In addition to swimming, I also played water polo for 5 years during high school and beyond with the Houston Water Polo club. In 2005, I even earned the opportunity to travel to the Jr. Olympics in California. I was a life guard….The water has played a big part in my life.

I became interested in survival lessons in 2018 when my first child was born and I wanted to keep him safe as a concerned parent around water. Sadly, a few days before my son’s 1st birthday our family was hit with a tragedy when we were notified my cousin had lost her son to a drowning accident. I saw first hand the pain a parent suffers from lack of swimming experience, and wanted to personally make a difference. The following summer, I enrolled my son into infant survival lessons. From that day on, I became a big advocate, enrolling my second son in survival skills too. Wanting other families to have the same opportunity as my sons to benefit from these life saving swimming skills, I became an instructor. With the moral support of my husband, I am able to fulfill my dream of teaching survival and swim lessons to all ages.
